5 WAYS YOU CAN INVEST YOUR MONEY AS AN EMPLOYEE

Are you wondering where to invest your money?, I share with you the ideas below:

  1. PROPERTY:

This is a broad term but I will break It down to as simple as things like acquiring land, buildings, etc. the good thing with investments like the land is that it appreciates every day and you can even sell this double the cost just after one year.

If it is land acquired, you may choose to plant trees or fruits like avocado on this kind of land for long-term benefits. you may also choose to construct rentals or construct apartments for sale.

2.SHARES:

This is another avenue for investment though requires a lot of due diligence and patience. It may be rewarding in the long run especially when the shares of the company you have invested in appreciate.

For a country like Uganda, we have the Uganda Stock Exchange market where the company’s share performance is publicized every day on TV stations.

Get interested in the performance of the companies, look at their financials for the last 3-5 years and see if it is a company that is progressing.

3.TREASURY BILLS AND BONDS:

These are financial instruments issued by the central bank on behalf of the government with some attractive interest rates.

You can choose to invest short-term through treasury bills or long-term through Treasury bonds.

Such investments may yield over 15% Annual interest and this can also be received bi-monthly.

4.RETIREMENT BENEFIT SCHEMES/ LIFE INSURANCE POLICIES:

These are other avenues for keeping your money safe.

You can sign up for say a monthly contribution for a fixed period and the reward is interesting.

In Uganda, companies like ICEA, Prudential, UAP, etc have policies that you can evaluate.

These also have unit trusts and other policies that you may sign up to earn interest on your money.

5.FIXED DEPOSITS WITH BANKS:

I have put this as last because it is the option that will commonly attract the lowest interest.

You can agree with your bank to put aside some of your money for say 5 years and you will earn interest annually on that amount of money.

BONUS: PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT:

I write this as a bonus but it is the most important investment you can make in your life.

The rest of the 5 are options but this one is a must for everyone.

See what Brain Tracy says:

“Personal development is a major time-saver. The better you become, the less time it takes you to achieve your goals.”

Take a course, learn a new skill, attend a paid seminar, read a book, sign up with a coach. Just do something to improve the YOU

Note all the options above will help you keep your money safe and with a return in the long run but some may limit your access in the short run.

It is for the same reason that I want to help you to set up side hustles through my coaching sessions

  1. Thank you Coach Samuel for the write up, it’s indeed a remarkable article yet so profound since when it comes to Investments people think of short and sometimes long term investments and neglect personal development 😔

  2. And in regards to land/real estate, I learnt from Bitature that always follow infrastructure.

Be on the look out on which infrastructure beg roads is government planning to work on etc. Growth follows infrastructure

Thank you Milly for sharing. I 100% agree to that. Land in areas that have potential for development by government appreciates handsomely overtime and those that take action enjoy the reward.
