HOW TO POSITION YOURSELF ON LINKEDIN FOR JOB OPPORTUNITIES.

Early this month, I hit 10,000 followers on LinkedIn, I have been contacted for job offers here and this platform has been helpful to me in making quality networks.

Are you wondering why you have been on this platform but no one has contacted you for an offer, this write up will give you some guidance. Below are a few tips on how to set up a winning LinkedIn Profile to make your profile outstanding.

1. Use a professional Profile picture for LinkedIn
Your profile picture is the first thing they look at when they visit your profile or when you send them a connection request, make sure the picture is professional i.e recent and looks like you and let your face take up around 60% of it (long-distance shots don’t stand out).

2. Have an eye catching your headline
Use the headline field to say a bit more about how you see your role, why you do what you do, and what makes you tick. I use finance manager on my headliner but I have also used Finance and Tax Specialists. Use either your current position at work or the name of your profession.

3. Writing summary that best describes you.
Your summary is your chance to sell yourself. In addition to listing your skills or the job titles you’ve had. Try to bring to life why those skills matter – and the difference you have made to the people you have worked with. Don’t be afraid to check out other people’s summary who are in a similar career line.

4. Highlight your experience.
You can do better than simply cutting and pasting your resume onto your LinkedIn profile. Use good action words to show not just what you did, but what you accomplished in each position. The key is to demonstrate the impact you’ve made, the change you’ve enacted, initiatives you’ve led, and the results you’ve delivered.

5. Grow your network
One of the easiest and yet most relevant ways to grow your LinkedIn network is to connect with other relevant people either in your industry, fellow employees, recruiters, mentors etc.

In summary, you need to remain active, check out what other people are posting, engage them with thoughtful comments, and like and share posts that strike you as helpful.

Also to note is that LinkedIn has a tool that helps recruiters to filter out potential candidates and it is one of the reasons why some people have been hired through this platform.

As someone who wants to grow in your career, having a winning LinkedIn profile is a plus.

I held a webinar on “GET THAT NEW JOB BEFORE THE END OF THIS YEAR” and one of the things I  talked  about is how to get the best out of LinkedIn as someone looking forward to grow in your career, get the replay via the link below: https://youtu.be/L2xb8SQvQNE
